Welcome to the website for Oficina da Capoeira, Chichester.

Our classes are open to everyone, and are 19:30 - 21:00 Mondays and Thursdays.

The first lesson is free, and after that classes are £4 for children (under 18) and £6 for adults. No need to book, just turn up.

Monday classes are at The Lodge, Graylingwell Park, Chichester, PO19 6YS.
Thursday classes are at Grit Gym, Station Approac, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 8GA

New to capoeira? No worries! Complete beginners are welcome, whatever your fitness level or experience. You'll just need to wear to sports clothes to start - jogging bottoms, yoga pants, shorts etc are all fine; and a t shirt that's not to baggy.

Follow these links to find out a bit more about our teacher; Oficina da Capoiera, our capoeira school; and photos from some of our group's activities.

Friday roda

Every Friday I'll be posting a roda. Whether you are an absolute beginner, or have been playing capoeira for years, you can always learn something from watching a roda.

I've chosen this one specially, as it's the first Friday roda post, and it features four capoeira instructors who are all very important, inspirational and dear to me:

Mestre Ray, who founded Oficina da Capoeira, and with whom I have been fortunate enough to train with on a few occasions, including in Brazil.

Mestrando Primo who introduced me to capoeira in the summer of 2008, and Graduado Nego Lua (playing the berimbau in the middle), who came to the UK in 2009, and have both been my main capoeira instructors, and have also become friends.

Lastly, Professor Neguinho who has supported Oficina in the UK for many years and teaches capoeira in Belgium, and has been another big influence on my capoeira.

It was also filmed at the 4th International Capoeira Festival in Cheltenham (the 8th Festival is a month away), so the background has many other friends too, but there is not enough space to list them all!
