Weekly roda 28th February

This is a roda I have shown before, but I am showing it again as it involves, Mestrando Primo, Professor Neguinho and Instrutor Lua, all of whom I am very pleased to announce are confirmed guests at Chichester's First International Capoeira Festival!

The roda also features Mestre Ray, without whom none of this would be possible.

So, enjoy the roda, and make sure you get your tickets for the festival early to take advantage of the earlybird discounts!

Classes back to normal

As you may know, I cancelled today's classes to see the GP about my wrist, and it's nothing to worry about. As I thought it might be, it's De Quervain's disease, which sounds considerably more dramatic than it is.

Doctor said I can teach classes just fine, so long as I avoid putting all my weight on my arms - don't worry, it won't stop me from getting you to put all your body weight on your arms ; )

See you in class on Thursday!

No class tonight, Monday 22nd February

Just a reminder that classes are cancelled tonight so I can see the GP about the pain in my wrist.

No excuse not to train though!

Why not try this workout from Mestre Ray?

One day my dream is to go to the annual festival in December. Wish I could make it this year, as Oficina da Capoeira will be 20 years old!

Weekly roda February 14th

There's a saying in capoeira: "Capoeira is for everyone, but not everyone is for capoeira".

This video really shows that, where there's a will, there's a way:

E hoje é dia de capoeira com ela....bora Júlia treinar!

Capoeira really is for everyone, but there's only one way to find out if capoeira is for you...

Capoeira adventures in Chichester and further afield

There are a number of events on the horizon, so make sure you get these dates in your diary!

The first is just under a month away:

27th February Workshop with Mestrando Primo, 10:00 - 13:00 Gas Green Church, Russell St, Cheltenham Gl51 9HJ, only £15.

23rd April 11:00 - 17:00, here in Chichester, at the University of Chichester Rugby Pitch, is a Superhero and Princesses themed Family Fun Day, it's run by the charity Over the Wall and we will be doing a demo and running workshops throughout the day. This is free, so hope to see everyone out to support Over the Wall and Oficina da Capoeira!

28th May, details are being finalised, but it's our group's first birthday! We'll be having a capoeira workshop, and a social in Chichester in the evening.

3rd - 4th June Mestre Acordeon Club Event 2016, Sobell Leisure Centre, London, N7 7NY. Tickets are £70 on the doors, but earlier if you book in advance.

The best 'till last!

5th - 7th August 1st International Capoeira Festival, Chichester. More details coming in the next few weeks, but this will be a weekend to train capoeira, experience the wider parts of capoeira and Brazilian culture, and if you train hard, who knows? Maybe you might change your corda!

A reminder that you can still get vouchers for half price classes through Spirit FM.
